Finding the Right Puppy for You
Over the years, our puppy search service has helped many families and individuals find the right companion to match their lifestyle, expectations, and energy levels. Whether you have a specific breed in mind or need help figuring out what might suit you best, we’re here to guide you through the entire process. We work with a small, trusted network of reputable breeders, people we’ve come to know and respect for their ethical practices and healthy, well-socialised pups. If you've already found a breeder on your own, we're happy to offer independent advice and support to help you make a confident choice.
Did you know that you can assess a puppy’s temperament as early as 7 weeks of age? We use simple, proven methods to evaluate traits such as confidence, sociability, energy, and sensitivity, so you can better understand how a puppy is likely to behave as an adult. This is especially helpful if you have children at home. For example, a high-energy or dominant puppy might not be the best fit in a busy family setting. Our goal is to help you choose a puppy whose personality fits naturally into your household.
Our service goes beyond just helping you choose the right puppy. We also help you and your family prepare for life with a new pup, offering guidance on:
Play-biting, jumping, and other common puppy behaviours
Toilet training and crate routines
Feeding, nutrition, and vaccination schedules
Early socialisation and preparation for park outings
Foundational training and house manners
We’re here to support you during those critical early weeks when your puppy is adjusting to their new world, and you’re adjusting to life as a new pet parent. The first few weeks with a new puppy can be full-on. Between the frequent feeds, interrupted sleep, accidents, teething, and the constant need for supervision, it can feel like having a newborn in the house. If you’re short on time or want professional support during this key developmental period, we also offer residential puppy training. Your puppy stays with us in a safe, nurturing environment where we focus on structure, socialisation, and gentle early training. When they return to you, they’ll have already built a strong foundation of positive habits.
All the principles we follow are grounded in decades of real-world experience, and if you'd like to learn more about our philosophy, methods, and insights, you can also explore them in my book on dog training and behaviour. The book is a practical and honest guide for dog owners who want to deepen their understanding of their pets and build better communication. It covers everything from basic training to more advanced behavioural topics and is a great companion to the services we offer.
Whether you're preparing for your first puppy or welcoming a new dog into your home after a long break, we’d love to support you on this journey. If you’d like to learn more about how we can help you find, train, and raise a confident, happy dog, please get in touch.
We're happy to answer any questions, discuss availability, or simply have a friendly chat about what you're looking for in a canine companion.
